What happen to Andrés Guardado?
On June 18, 2020 Andrés Guardado was involved in a police chase and shooting that resulted in his death. The two officers involved claim they we're out on patrol when they saw Andrés Guardado speaking with someone whose car was blocking a driveway. They claim Andrés ran when they stopped their vehicle. When Andrés Guardado reached an alleyway behind a nearby business he was shot at approximately six times and hit in the upper torso.
The officers involved claim Andrés Guardado pulled a gun during the chase. A local business owner states Andrés "got down on his knees and surrendered with his hands behind his head but was still shot seven times in the back.". The business owner, Andrew Heney, also claims the police illegally obtained and destroyed footage that captured the shooting from store cameras.
Currently both officers are under investigation for an unrelated traffic incident which the police force has not released information about.
